Early check-in

Early check-in is approved access before the standard arrival time. It may be free or a paid extra and depends on the property being ready; a request is not the same as confirmation.

Why it matters

An earlier arrival can make travel easier for guests, but it also reduces the time available to prepare the property. Hosts need a clear approval process so convenience does not come at the expense of a ready, clean space.

Putting it into practice

Check the previous booking and cleaning schedule before confirming an earlier time. Tell the guest whether the request is approved, what time access begins and whether there is a charge.

Practical example

Illustrative example

A host confirms a 1pm arrival instead of 4pm after the cleaner reports that the property is ready.

Common mistake

A request or payment should not leave the guest guessing about access. State how approval works and avoid promising early arrival before the property can be prepared.

Frequently asked questions

Does early check-in have to be a paid extra?

No. A host may offer it without charge or price it as an optional service. The guest should know the cost and conditions before agreeing.

Is dropping off luggage the same as early check-in?

No. A luggage drop may be possible while the property is still being prepared. Explain whether the guest can only leave bags or can also use the accommodation.

How Touch Stay fits

A Touch Stay guidebook can explain arrival times and how to request flexibility. The Store provides a place to offer optional extras such as early check-in; hosts still need to confirm what they can fulfil.
